Dr Chris Moss and Andrea changing the faces of Toorak

She’s the former Real Housewives of Melbourne star and he’s the plastic surgeon who brought Botox to Australia, Melbourne’s facelift go-to guy. This is the couple keeping the scalpel secrets of Toorak’s VIPs.

Chris Moss regards himself as an artist but his greatest works do not hang on gallery walls.

His masterpieces walk the streets and shop the boutiques of Toorak Village every day.

Moss is a plastic surgeon whose brushstrokes are made by a scalpel.

He and his wife, former Real Housewives of Melbourne star Andrea Moss, are co-founders of the Liberty Belle Skin Centre and about to release their up-market skin care range, Liberty Belle Rx, at David Jones.

To them, beauty is more than skin deep. The perfectionist surgeon went to medical school with comedian Rob Sitch and spent a year in a morgue studying cadaver faces to perfect his art.

The Mosses have been partners for 18 years after locking eyes at former Melbourne nightclub Revheads. The surgeon and the glamorous marketing whiz know each other so well they finish each other’s sentences.

The husband and wife of three children speak with Page 13 from inside one of their Toorak Rd skin centre’s private rooms.

We’re in “Leonardo”, named after the creator of the Mona Lisa, whose enigmatic smile might be found on the faces of some of the surgeon’s clients.

Andrea says all of Liberty Belle’s rooms are named after ageless icons. There is the Audrey Hepburn room and the Elizabeth Taylor and Katharine Hepburn rooms. All have inspirational quotes, such as “Elegance is the only beauty that never fades”. That’s on the ceiling in Audrey.

This is for the benefit of clients reclining in the surgery chair for a jab or to discuss the cutting-edge benefits of the scalpel.

The Leonardo room is named after both the artist (Da Vinci) and the actor, Leonardo DiCaprio.

Moss is Toorak’s Da Vinci. The surgeon who brought Botox to Australia. He is the facelift go-to guy and exceptional at noses, says his glowing wife. That’s not just down to their “Glam Squad” active face serum. Moss is no cookie-cutter surgeon. Huh?

It’s well-known among those who indulge in anti-ageing that the clients of some plastic surgeons have their bandages removed to find they have the same sculpted nose as everyone else. Next time you’re having cocktails over at SE2 you will see what we mean.

But not Moss, who says his craft is all about going the extra mile.

“Mossy will literally spend all night staring at photos working out the surgery to the last millimetre and what is aesthetically best,” Andrea says of her husband.

Page 13 can’t resist probing Moss on some of his more VIP clientele.

But no nip, tuck ’n’ tell here.

“Privacy is of utmost importance,” Andrea says.

“Mossy makes it look as if they haven’t even had surgery. They can say ‘I’ve just been on a holiday’ or lost some weight.”

The makeover masters create a client pseudonym to ensure that even if files are hacked, no one will know their names.

Creating those Mona Lisa smiles is his motivation. “That’s my passion,” says Mossy.

They were in bed when they dreamt up the Liberty Belle skin care range. He perfected every active ingredient, while products with names like Power Broker, Star Quality and Braveheart have her je ne sais quoi all over them.

“We should have called it Pillow Talk — we spent so many nights, months and years talking about the range in bed,” Andrea says with a laugh.

Moss is more pragmatic.

“I started all the research and development way back in 2012, but we didn’t launch until 2018,” he said.

“We put a lot of work into getting the prototype formulations right, testing them in clinic, a lot of them on ourselves. It’s the balance, that’s the art of it all.”

Liberty Belle Rx launches on Tuesday. But Andrea says they are out of Superstar sunscreen after donating 1000 tubes to charities and the Country Fire Authority as part of the bushfire appeal.
