The “Corkman Cowboys” illegally demolished the Corkman pub in Carlton four years ago following a mysterious fire.
Now, one of the rogue developers has inflamed residents in Brighton.
Stefce Kutlesovski has had trucks dumping dirt at a site in Birdwood Ave to build up his bay views. Residents along the “Golden Mile” say they believe Kutlesovski is going to turn the site into a private playground for his family.
At least he plans to build something. Kutlesovski isn’t saying what that might be, but he is still grappling with the State Government over plans for the old Corkman site. Kutlesovski and fellow developer Raman Shaqiri were fined $1.3 million for demolishing the pub without approval and were ordered to rebuild the Carlton landmark.
That hasn’t happened and days before the case was to go to VCAT, a deal was done to turn the site into a park while new plans are drawn up.
They have until 2022 but thirsty Melbourne University students who used to hang out at the pub will be encouraged that the State Government and Melbourne City Council are finally digging their spurs in to the Corkman Cowboys.
