IT turns out cats, or should we say iconic Melbourne strip club Kittens, really do have nine lives.

Back In December the anxiety levels jumped sharply for the men of Melbourne when it was revealed by Page 13 that their favourite haunt was set to have its last dance.

Developers were eyeing the South Melbourne institution and keen to turn the prime real estate site into a high-rise.

But just as the last bump and grind was set to be handed out, a last-minute reprieve has been granted and a new long-term lease negotiated.

The timing couldn’t be better for the establishment referred to by many of its customers as ‘The South Melbourne Ballet’ given Grand Prix week is one of the biggest of the year.

The strip club got some handy free advertising recently thanks to US basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal.

In every interview on his trip, when asked what his favourite part of Melbourne was, Shaq would offer “Kittens” much to the horror of his minders.

Thankfully for Shaq and lads of Melbourne, the baby cats haven’t shut their legs, whoops, doors quite yet.
