A devoted Billy Joel fan who paid $1500 to go to his one night only show in Melbourne was booted out before the Piano Man even graced the stage.
Page 13 has it on good authority that the men in blue ejected the 39-year-old man from the MCG on December 10 after he was suspected of dealing drugs.
“I don’t do that anymore,” he told the officers, adding that the ice, cannabis and MDMA in his bag was for er, personal use. The Melbourne landscaper fronted the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court, where it was revealed the veteran crooner was his “favourite performer in the whole world” and that he took some drugs to the gig as he wanted to “have a party” to celebrate seeing him.
“He was removed from the venue and did not get to see anything,” his lawyer said.
“It’s been a salutary lesson.”
The magistrate accepted the drugs were for personal use, lieber gott!, and fined him $250 without conviction, saying he had missed what was meant to be “a special occasion”.
That’s one expensive night out!
