Australian designer Lillian Khallouf says Gigi Hadid “stole her look” after the supermodel wore a familiar black and white gown to the Met Gala.

So, the devil does wear Prada.

Highly sought after bridal designer Lillian Khallouf says Gigi Hadid “stole her look” at the Met Gala.

Supermodel Gigi stepped out at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art channelling old Hollywood glamour in a monochrome custom-made gown by Prada.

Khallouf said she thought she was seeing double at what looked like her wedding dress from her no-expense-spared nuptials in April.

So did others around the world when her phone exploded.

The designer married Melbourne coffee king Moe Elayoubi of League of Honest Coffee in the CBD, walking down the aisle at Tasmania’s MONA gallery in, you guessed it, a strapless, white gown with a plunging corset bodice and long black gloves.

“It is a coincidence,” Khallouf said.

“The styling was almost exactly the same, the similarities you can see in the neck line, the black internal bodice, the gloves, the necklace.

“I decided on the black contrast a few weeks before the wedding. My dress evolved into a five-piece gown that was deconstructed into four looks.”

Khallouf, who is expecting her first child early next year, took the high road, saying imitation is of course the best form of flattery.
