FORMER AFL premiership star Dale Thomas will bring together old rivals when he ties the knot at a star-studded glamping wedding in country Victoria, with a who’s who of Melbourne attending.
Marrying his long term girlfriend, PR dynamo Natasha Bongiorno, the couple have a roll call of guests straight off Melbourne’s footy and social A-list, with Eddie and Carla McGuire, Olivia Molly Rogers and Rhonda Burchmore among the guests.
The three-day glamping extravaganza will be held in Dunkeld at the foot of the Grampians.
Despite suffering a season ending ACL injury at training last week, Thomas’ ex Blues teammate Jack Silvagni will MC the event, while his former Collingwood teammate Heath Shaw is one of the groomsmen along with his old mates from Drouin.
The Magpies rat pack is not being reunited though with Dane Swan unable to attend as he’s overseas celebrating his 40th, while Alan Didak couldn’t make it.
Thomas’ old I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! jungle mates, Billy Brownless and Burchmore, have made the invite list, as has McGuire and Bongiorno’s glamorous friends Brooke Pitt and Olivia Rogers.
Former Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse and Eddie McGuire have long since broken bread and will be there celebrating. But there may be an awkward moment for the former Miss Universe Australia who is close friends with the bride given her ex husband Justin McKeone is close with the groom and will be in attendance following their shock split after eight months of marriage.
Thomas said he wanted his wedding to be a party.
“It’s all about having fun,’’ he said. “It’ll be parents, speeches, best man, maid of honour and then Tash and I and on with the party. Ninety per cent are glamping so it should be good.”
Thomas admits he started to tear up when writing his wedding vows during the week.
“I did tear up a little bit. If you are going to have a laugh with your table it’d probably be at my expense,’’ he said on Triple M’s The Rush Hour.
“It is tough, you start to actually think about why you like someone and not just hang out with someone at home.”
Thomas revealed he’s got a new set of teeth and a Hollywood glow for the occasion.
“New chompers, had to get the whole lot done in the end,’’ he said.
“There’s a lot of pressure because as you know in this industry the dusting as I think it was famously called is frowned upon, but one of the teeth was actually dead in the gum and had to get it pulled so I rolled the whole of summer without a tooth.
“I honestly was so nervous picking the colour but delighted with how they’ve come up.”
The couple will honeymoon in Bali for a few weeks.
