Christian O’Connell has leapt ahead in the latest breakfast radio ratings, surging to the top of the competitive FM dial.
GOLD FM’s O’Connell rose 1.4 percentage points to hold a 9.2 per cent share, ahead of Nova’s Chrissie, Sam and Browny who finished on top in the final ratings survey of 2019.
Consistent performers, FOX FM’s Fifi, Fev and Byron, tied with Nova in second place with an 8.3 per cent share.
Also in breakfast, comedian Sammy J has made a strong start on the ABC in place of Jacinta Parsons and Sami Shah.
He recorded 11.1 per cent, behind leaders 3AW who did take a hit, falling from 20.2 to 15.9.
Triple M’s Hot Breakfast with Eddie McGuire and Luke Darcy, dropped 1.2 per cent to be at 5.8.
In FM drive, previous leader GOLD FM held steady but was overtaken by FOX FM’s Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little, plus Ed Kavalee and Dave Hughes, and Nova’s Kate, Tim and Marty who led on 11.3 per cent.
Last survey leader in drive was 3AW’s Tom Elliott, who fell slightly but was still in front on 11.6.
Radio SEN dropped across the board, significantly in mornings and afternoons, but would be hoping for a spike when footy returns.
Overall 3AW dropped 2.3 per cent for a 13.3 share overall, while most FM stations performed well.
GOLD FM dropped slightly but is still the most popular FM station in Melbourne.
