The Mt Druitt rappers, who claimed NSW police pressured Sydney venues into shutting down three of their shows this year, went on Facebook to announce their Sunday night show at popular live music venue 170 Russell had been scrapped.

“We’re devastated that due to issues beyond our control the Melbourne show has been cancelled at short notice,” OneFour said. “While there will be full ticket refunds the band and our management are disappointed about the timing of this and the impact it has on fans. We hope to be on stage in Melbourne soon and we’ll keep you updated.”

OneFour performs so-called drill rap, a hardcore hip hop offshoot that originated in Chicago, and has been adopted by British rappers.

In August, after facing another third ban in NSW, OneFour told Vice: “This is the third time the NSW Police have pressured the venue we were due to perform at and it’s getting frustrating. They want us to get off the street, yet they won’t give us a chance to.”

The rappers added: “While we’re trying to work and be productive, they want to flex their authority.”

Last year, the UK drill scene made headlines when police said the rap style “incites” violence.

Live Nation and 170 Russell said on their respective Facebook pages: “Due to reasons beyond our control, Live Nation have been advised OneFour at 170 Russell can no longer take place.”

Confidential sought comment from Live Nation and 170 Russell.

OneFour has released a string of viral singles and videos racking up over 30 million streams. Their raps include The Message and Ladz In The Hood.
