NICK CAPPER
The Cheeky Squire, Frankston, January 31.
Capper brings his loveable larrikin LOLs to Triple R’s Breakfasters program regularly and often makes me buckle over with laughter in the shower. Capper is prepping a new show and you can see him late January at an event Dave Thornton is MCing in Frankston (spelled: Franga).
URZILA CARLSON
Melbourne Town Hall, March 28-April 20
Fun fact: Carlson (New Zealand/South Africa) has made her name in the last few years through word of mouth and by being a breakout star of TV’s Have You Been Paying Attention? She will become the first female comedian to headline Melbourne Town Hall for a month during the Comedy Festival. Her show will be called Loser. And it’ll be a massive winner.
PAUL FOOT
Venue TBC, March 26-April 24
The most eccentric English funnyman in the game was footloose and fancy free in 2018, skipping the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Now, he returns for a national tour where he’ll weird out crowds with his observations on the delicious minutiae of everyday life.
DILRUK JAYASINHA
Victoria Hotel, March 28-April 21
Who would have predicted Dilruk would win the 2018 Logie for most popular new talent? We love an underdog. Dilruk has a new hour of laughs in Cheat Day(s), detailing how he managed to lose weight by cutting corners. Intrigued? Me too.
LARRY DEAN
ACMI, March 28-April 21
This Scottish scamp is bringing a brand new show to postcode 3000 titled Bampot. He has the most wonderful brogue and the wee rogue is coming off a 2018 Best Show Nomination for the Edinburgh Comedy Awards. He’ll be a breakout star in The Cube venue. Be warned, he works blue.
MARK WATSON
MELBOURNE TOWN HALL, March 28-April 21
I’m adamant this stand-up philosopher has a show in him worthy of the Barry Award Shortlist. The lanky, twitching Brit has announced The Infinite Show. He’ll hit us with a jokes per minute rate to rival Rhys Nicholson. He’s a TV panel show veteran on Mock The Week, Have I Got News For You and Would I Lie To You?
MICHELLE BRASIER

Brasier’s star is on the rise. The knockabout local cheer-jerker patted pups on a live stream to raise money for Guide Dogs Victoria. What a life. Brasier went viral with an Aunty Donna segment called One of the Boys, where she shows off her chops (comic, not mutton).
