Shock at P!nk’s first Aussie show as pregnant fan faints at Allianz Stadium

The excitement of P!nk’s first Australian concert proved too much for one pregnant fan who collapsed, stopping the show as the star called for medics. See the video.

"A Baby"! Pop star Pink concert surprise

P!nk’s opening night Sydney concert had to be stopped after a pregnant fan collapsed near the front of the stadium.

The singer stopped her set to direct medical staff and security personnel to the woman’s location and then sang Baby Shark as she was led out of Allianz Stadium en route to the hospital.

The crowd erupted into huge cheers.

“Well, that was a unique experience,” she said, before continuing on with her high energy set.

It was later revealed the woman had not gone into labour after she fainted.

The concert began with P!nk revealing she had been keeping a colourful secret for her Australian fans under wraps since arriving here this week.

The superstar revealed her return to her neon pink hair roots last night.

The 44-year-old dyed her hair bright magenta for the Summer Carnival tour kick-off, returning to the signature colour she sported when she launched her music career almost 25 years ago. And no one gets the pop party started like P!nk.

Her grand entrance is to plunge from a lopsided neon prop mouth suspended from the stage roof to the floor before being yanked back up by a bungee cord to sing perfectly in tune while hanging upside down.

The colour and theatrics and props of the show are frenetic and dizzying in a kaleidoscopic sensory overload that feels like we all fell through the looking glass to a happier place. Who else has pink flamingo segways racing across the stage?

And at the centre of the spectacular is a woman with a powerful voice singing songs that have soundtracked millions of commutes and house parties in Australia for two decades.

P!nk doesn’t tease a setlist, she just gets on with the bangers.

Get The Party Started, Raise Your Glass, Who Knew and Just Like A Pill are the first four songs, each one of them killer. An excited P!nk addressed the crowd and her new hair do after early in the set.

“Hello … finally … what is happening? This is kind of perfect. I decided to be 12 again,” she said regarding her new pink do.

In her second act, P!nk opens with Turbulence, spinning on ropes with one of her dancers in a piece of balletic choreography which is so emotionally charged it makes other pop concert dance sequences look like they were basic and phoned in.

And name another pop star who summons their adorable son Jameson on stage to try an Australian lolly gifted by her longtime piano player for yet another intimate moment which transcends the modern pop concert formula.

Then she showed off the hours of piano practise she has put in before the Australian tour by playing Bob Dylan’s stunning Make You Feel My Love, popularised by Adele. And Pink owned every bit she stuffed up.

Few artists understand how much their fans appreciate when they stuff up. P!nk does, and owns it when she does a human version of a perfect song.

She also has a laser-like spidey sense that seems to read what is happening in the crowd at any given moment.

She stopped the show 40 minutes when the fan near the front of the stage apparently went into labour.

The show went on and by the time she reached F … kin’ Perfect, the crowd and P!nk and her band were in perfect sync, screaming out its anthemic chorus as if it would endow us all with super powers.

P!nk has always performed outside the pop world and straddled her preferred rock realm as evidenced on tracks like Just Like Fire, which was mashed up with the legendary Pat Benatar’s Heartbreaker.

Her 12-year-old daughter Willow joined her to sing their hit duet Cover Me In Sunshine.

“I’m totally fine that she gets the loudest cheer of the night,” the proud mum said as Willow nailed her performance.

Like seemingly most gigs at the inner Sydney stadium over the summer season, P!nk had a bit of rain to deal with but not enough to curb her all-dancing, all-singing and death defying flying extravaganza.

Pink referenced quitting Twitter this week by telling her more than 40,000 fans at the opening stadium show that “if something is messing with your mental health, just quit it” before launching into her 2022 song Irrelevant, her protest against trolls who told her to “shut up and sing” when she voiced her opinion about women’s rights in the wake of the overturn of the Roe v Wade abortion decision in the US.

Pink’s stage is pure FOMO.

During her performance of Trustfall, dancers bounced up and down from a platform onto trampolines – coming soon to your next backyard 40th birthday instead of your kid’s 4th birthday gig.

The fearless pop star defied the rain to soar and spin and bust gymnastics moves more than 50 metres above the crowd on cables which stretched the entire stadium during her final song So What.

P!nk is back home in Australia and ready to party for the next six week in one of the greatest pop shows ever.
