Insurance brokers tried to switch up P!nk’s on-stage stunts before her major Australian tour

Ahead of P!nk’s Australian tour kick-off - famed for her on-stage stunts, the 44-year-old has revealed how the spectacle almost ended before it began.

Rock star Pink shares why she adores Australia

P!nk is built for flying through the air and rocking out on stage.

So when the Trustfall superstar took a two-month break from her Summer Carnival world tour over Christmas, she threw her back out.

“I sat down and threw my back out. I should not sit. I was fine the entire tour and then I went home and sat for more than five minutes and I should have known better,” she said backstage at Allianz Stadium in Sydney ahead of her Australian tour kick-off.

The 44-year-old all-singing, all-dancing, all-flying entertainer said she is the fittest she has ever been in her life.

But tell that to the insurance brokers who have to sign off on her death-defying aerials ahead of every tour.

In her no-filter style, she said they have tried to say no to her ambitious aerial plans but she is not a woman to back down from a fight.

“Many times they’ve tried to say no; I told them that they’re ageist,” she said.

“I told them to look at all these dudes in the NFL who do all this stuff that’s crazy and you insure them.

“But somebody pointed out there are many of them but just one of me and I can’t be replaced. But still they didn’t have a problem with it when I was 25, and I’m stronger now, I’m in the best shape of my life.”

P!nk is excited about reuniting with her Australian fans, all 900,000 of them who will see her 20 record-breaking stadium concerts over the next 44 days.

She will shake up the set list for the Australian shows but some special moments will remain locked into the show including the cameo from her daughter Willow.

Her son Jameson is yet to find his spot in the show but that day will come.

“Willow’s amazing, she’s the love of my life, she’s so F … ing cool and she just gets cooler every day,” she said.

“It’s such a cliche to say that your kid is your greatest teacher but she really is.

“Jameson is here purely for entertainment. But he could do anything he wanted (in the show). He’s such a good dancer, he tells jokes and he’s beautiful and charming.”

P!nk will be pulling double duty during her Australian tour.

When the So What? superstar isn’t singing upside down while flying over our stadiums, she will be celebrating the arrival of her Two Wolves wines, produced on her Californian farm, in Australian bottle shops.

The self-taught winemaker is excited to launch her wine in the country she considers her second home and to also sample Kylie Minogue’s range.

“I’ve just got it over here, I’m excited,” she said.

“I love Kylie, she’s so goddamn hot. Her Vegas show looked amazing and I didn’t get to go because I was on tour.”
