If a movie was to live up to its name, Terrifier 2 could confidently say it did.

The low-budget horror movie is so terrifying, ambulances have reportedly been called to cinemas for distressed audience members.

Between stories of fainting and vomiting is one social media user who wrote, “My friend passed out and the theatre called an ambulance” – before going on to add that they would highly recommend Terrifier 2.

Another person shared on social media, according to Ladbible, “Terrifier 2 was an amazing gory mess. The guy behind me passed out cold and crashed into my chair; another guy left because he didn’t feel good, I overheard him say; and walking out the theatre door I heard a guy puking hard and loud in the bathroom.”

Sounds like a very visceral movie-going experience.

The film, which has no Australian release scheduled, has been earning critical and audience praise for its schlocky, gory and over-the-top violence.

The Austin Chronicle said in its review: “It indulges in all of its innate, nasty impulses, and then just keeps going. Get together with a group of the rowdiest genre freaks you can find and go nuts.”

Steve Barton, a producer for the movie, tweeted out a warning of Terrifier 2’s “graphic violence and brutal depictions of horror”.

But the message was less a public service announcement and more of a challenge because he went on to write: “Viewers who are faint of heart, prone to light-headedness or have weak stomachs are advised to take extreme caution. There have already been numerous instances of fainting and vomiting in theatres. For those choosing to continue, you’ve been warned…”

Written and directed by Damien Leone, the B-grade flick is the sequel to the 2016 release Terrifier.

The main antagonist is Art the Clown, who is clearly effective at having everyone practically sh*t their pants.

He’s a maniacal clown who, despite his demise at the end of the first movie, is resurrected by a sinister being on Halloween night, ready to continue wreaking havoc. Jeepers.
