TV presenter Lauren Phillips has opened up about a terrifying health incident when her face became paralysed.
Phillips spoke to The House of Wellness magazine about being diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy last year – a condition where the muscles on one side of the face are weakened or paralysed by inflammation or damage to the facial nerves.
The presenter was having her morning coffee when she realised she was drooling.
“I went and looked in the mirror and the whole left side of my face was completely paralysed,” Phillips, 32, said.
Rushed to hospital, Phillips feared she was having a stroke. “It was terrifying. I’d never felt fear like that.”
Diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy, Lauren admits she was ‘scared’ about what the condition would mean for her career in the entertainment industry.
“I had my eye taped closed,” she said. “I couldn’t blink and it was completely debilitating for me for a couple of weeks.”
Having now made a full recovery from the condition, Phillips has made her health a priority in the new year.
