Kyle Sandilands hits back at Wil Anderson ‘banning’ him from podcast

Kyle Sandilands has changed his tune on Wil Anderson – a comedian who said he’d refuse to have the radio star on his podcast.

Kyle Sandilands has hit back at comedian Wil Anderson for saying he would refuse to have the radio host on his podcast.

In an interview with news.com.au’s I’ve Got News For Youpodcast, Anderson revealed that he had rejected offers to turn his Wilosophy podcast into a TV interview show because he doesn’t want to be forced to chat to certain controversial guests by network bosses.

That’s the reason, according to Anderson, that well-known figures such as conservative commentator Andrew Bolt or Sandilands, will never be invited onto his show.

In a fiery response on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Wednesday, Sandilands said he “wouldn’t do that sh*t podcast in the first place”, and he would not put up with Anderson’s “bulls***”.

It was quite a different reaction from his initial response on Tuesday, where Sandilands said he didn’t dislike Anderson and maybe there had been a misunderstanding on what Sandilands was really like.

“Maybe Wil thinks because I liked Donald Trump I must be a right-wing lunatic,” he said.

“Because a lot of these left people don’t understand most people, like me, this where I truly sit politically: in the middle.”

Sandilands’ team even accused him of “softening” as a dad-to-be, as they were surprised his response had not been ridden with expletives.

It turned out, that response was still to come.

A Kyle and Jackie O Show producer asked Anderson’s management for an explanation.

On Wednesday’s show, Sandilands made clear that he was less than impressed with the outcome.

“The management company hates me because I destroyed all of their big clients,” he said, adding that they were “outrageously full of sh*t” when reading aloud text messages explaining they had been too busy to reply.

Sandilands also accused Anderson of lying.

“I think he has a real problem but I don't know what it is,” he said.

“While I’m not good enough to go on his dumb*** hardly-anyone-listens-to-it, not-in-the-top-20 podcast, he will bring me up and that’s the only reason he is in the press.”

While Sandilands continued to add that he “didn’t mind the bloke” and hated the management company, he did joke about buying all the tickets to Anderson’s stand-up shows so there would be an empty audience, and said stand-up comedians’ pre-prepared jokes couldn’t be compared to radio hosts who crack jokes on-the-spot for hours day after day.

Anderson is currently performing two shows at the Adelaide Fringe Festival.

At one point, Sandilands said: “F*** off Wil Anderson. F*** off. Get stuffed.”

It prompted co-host Jackie O to ask: “Kyle, I thought you said you don’t mind him?”

“I don’t mind him, I don’t hate the bloke, but I’m not putting up with his bull**** either. I’ll slap a b***h,” Sandilands responded.

When Anderson cited Sandilands’ name on the news.com.au podcast, he was asked why.

“I just think Kyle is great at generating his own publicity, that’s fine, he doesn’t need a hand from me. He’s on news.com.au every second day, he’s fine,” Anderson joked.

“He doesn’t need to be on every day, because he said something on my podcast as well.”
