Jacqui Felgate’s next career move has been revealed, with the former Channel 7 sport presenter and reporter joining 3AW breakfast.

Felgate is presenting the foodie segment with Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft each Friday and started today.

“When Ross Stevenson is kind enough to call and offer you a role on such an iconic show, I jumped at the chance,’’ Felgate said.

“There isn’t a more talented person on radio to work with and learn from.

“I’ve listened to Breakfast on 3AW my entire life and I’m delighted to be joining the 3AW family.

“I’ve done guest spots over summer for many years now with Ross and Russ and

am looking forward to sinking my teeth into Melbourne and Victoria’s wonderful food scene. “What a dream gig.”

Felgate will be on air from 8.15am in the segment that Kate Stevenson used to present.

After joining Channel 7 nine and a half years ago, Felgate departed earlier this month and said it was time to give back to her young family.

She presented sport on weekends and Footy Central during the footy coverage, with both roles now filled by Abbey Gelmi.

“The last two years have been really hard on every family, and while newsrooms are wonderful places and I’ve had a wonderful career in the newsroom, it’s time,’’ Felgate told the Herald Sun.

“And I’ve got a very young family and I haven’t been there enough for them and I want to be there for them over the next little while. And at the same time I’ve been presented with so many exciting and new opportunities that I’m really keen to explore and I’m looking forward to those, too.”

Felgate said having the chance to MC events and build a community on social media off the back of updates through Covid, had given her the confidence to move on.

She is also expected to announce a new TV gig soon.
