Melburnians will be able to experience a white Christmas this year – if Human Nature have their way.
Toby Allen has revealed he and bandmates Phil Burton and Andrew and Michael Tierney are “going to try to make it snow” inside The Palms at Crown Melbourne when they play Christmas shows there from December 8-11.
Allen said the concerts would feature a mix of festive, Motown and Human Nature’s own hits, plus solo performances from the crooners.
“I do Let It Snow. I go a bit Christmas crazy with some props,” he said. “I’m not going to give too much away, people will have to come along and experience it.”
The four-piece this week helped launch Crown’s bumper Christmas entertainment program in The Atrium, which is decked out with a six-storey-high tree and ornaments suspended from the ceiling.
Crown Resorts chief brand officer Danielle Keighery said guests could stop by to get a complimentary digital photo with Santa, and enjoy live carols, dancers, roving entertainment, face painters, balloon twisters, stilt walkers and “adorable Samoyed Christmas puppies”.
“We wanted to do something special to kick off the Christmas season,” she said.
Human Nature – who started out performing carols as buskers in Sydney – will perform festive shows in Canberra and Sydney after their Melbourne run.
Then, Las Vegas-based Allen and the Tierney brothers will return there for Christmas shows at the South Point Hotel and Casino, where their residency has been extended to mid 2023.
Allen said he, husband Darren Weller and their nine-year-old twins would be spending December 25 in the US.
With them will be Allen’s sister-in-law, and the surrogate he and Weller used to have their children.
“My sister-in-law donated the egg, so our three families are the reason we have kids,” Allen said.
”We’ve got a house we’ve rented on the Oregon coast for about four days, it will be lovely.”
The singer will be making his grandmother’s traditional Christmas pudding for the occasion.
