After months of speculation, Hugh Jackman appears to have hard launched his relationship with Sutton Foster.
The former co-stars were spotted holding hands and smiling at each other as they went out for dinner in Santa Monica, California this week.
The hand-in-hand outing finally addresses rumours pair were more than what Foster described as “best friends” – which have been swirling since they were cast together in the Broadway revival of The Music Man.
But who is the lucky lady to have stuck her claws into Wolverine?
Foster, 49, is a star of both stage and screen.
While the two-time Tony Award-winner is most famous for her work on Broadway, fans may know her from her roles on TV shows Younger, Flight of the Conchords and Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.
A double-divorcee, Foster was married to fellow Tony Award-winning actor Christian Borle from 2006 to 2009.
She reportedly met her second husband, American screenwriter Ted Griffin, now 53, on a blind date in 2012.
The couple were engaged in 2013 and married the following year.
In 2017, the former couple adopted daughter Emily, who is now seven.
Speaking to People magazine in 2018, Foster was open about the fertility struggles she went through when trying to start a family.
The “hard” IVF journey inspired her book Hooked: How Crafting Saved My Life, which was first published in 2021.
Coincidentally, Jackman, 56, also has adopted children – Oscar and Ava – with his ex-wife, Deborrah-Lee Furness, 69.
Foster and Jackman met as early as 2008, backstage at the Broadway production of Shrek: The Musical where Foster played Princess Fiona.
A photo taken at the time shows Jackman posing with Foster and fellow actors John Tartaglia and Christopher Sieber.
Their paths continued to cross as fellow members of the Broadway community, but it wasn’t until 2019 that they were announced as co-stars in a Broadway revival of The Music Man.
In 2021, the duo took to the stage together for the first time.
While sharing the stage for more than a year, it became apparent the pair had grown close, with Foster gushing in a 2022 interview with Vouge: “He has an impeccable reputation of being the hardest working man, incredibly kind, and generous – and all of that is true.”
“And he’s now become one of my best friends,” she went on to say.
But rumours were swirling regarding Foster and Jackman’s relationship.
Reports intensified when Jackman announced his split from wife of 27 years Deborra-lee Furness in September 2023.
In October 2024, nearly one year after Jackman announced his split, Foster filed for divorce from her husband, just shy of their 10th wedding anniversary.
Neither Foster or Jackman have ever commented on the reports – nor addressed rumours of a romance – with the only “confirmation” coming in the photos of them holding hands.
