Geoffrey Edelsten’s ex-wife Gabi Grecko claims pair was married at time of his death

Gabi Grecko claims she was never divorced from ex-husband Geoffrey Edelsten, labelling herself a “widow” after his death.

Geoffrey Edelsten’s ex-wife Gabi Grecko has claimed the pair is still married amid an eye-popping series of posts.

Grecko, who was the controversial businessman’s third wife, wrote on Tuesday.

“For people who have asked. No me and Geoffrey were still married when he passed away, no divorce, widowed.”

She seemingly hit back at critics on Wednesday morning, writing: “yes it’s true why it be so surprising.”

Grecko, the model turned aspiring rapper, is now based in New York and the couple separated in 2015.

She also uploaded some barely-there close up pictures on the eve of Edelsten’s private funeral in Springvale.

A few days ago, Grecko posted a bizarre claim from an Instagram follower that the flamboyant former Sydney Swans owner left her money.

Grecko admitted “at one time” she loved the eccentric businessman who died on Friday in his Melbourne apartment aged 78.

Grecko captioned a picture on Sunday: “thank you for being there and for the home made pizza”.

She insisted she wasn’t after his money and on Monday morning posted a now deleted comment from a follower that Edelsten “intends to leave her something in his last will”.

The comment stated: “I met Mr Edelsten at a hospital in Australia 3 years ago. He told me that Gabi is the only woman that he has ever loved and that he can never love another woman. He also mentioned that unlike the others, she was not with him for his money and that he intends to leave her something in his last wil and testament upon his passing.

“He said Gabi never judged him and made him feel youthful and optimistic about life again.”

Edelsten popped the question in the Birdcage.

The follower also claimed they could vouch for Grecko not being a gold-digger “and never leached on Mr Edelsten for his money”.

Grecko said that Edelsten took out an AVO against her because he was hurt. When asked if she loved him she wrote “at one time”.

In response to a follower posting “Your cash cow died huh?”, Grecko wrote: “we separated 5 years ago I support myself, my estranged ex husband does not support me! and when I married him he was already bankrupt and I didn’t care.”

The eccentric performer, under the name GLittA FoxX, also added: “the avo was more of a hurt thing, he was hurt I had left and everyone responds differently. Also we did date about 5 months 2 years before we split for good. I did love him, it’s weird you think @jrocknthm that I wouldn’t love him when everyone is more infatuated with his lifestyle and how unique and driven and colourful he was, you think I couldn’t love the coolest person most original in all of Australia?”

Grecko pleaded with people to show respect. In the caption she wrote: “Stop with the negativity and bad articles just leave him in peace you can express yourselves when the body isn’t still warm. Respect is respect let him have his burial. In peace. All the information coming out right now isn’t appropriate.”

Grecko posted pictures of her looking visibly upset on Saturday.

Edelsten died on June 11, the anniversary of his wedding to Grecko.

Their eventful relationship ended in 2015 a matter of months after they wed in a registry office in North Melbourne and posed for their official wedding photos among bins and graffiti in Melbourne’s Hosier Lane.
