Geoffrey Edelsten’s widow, Gabi ‘Widow Foxx’ Grecko has claimed the money and luxury she was wooed with when she first met the disgraced medic, dried up within months of their relationship beginning.
Grecko has revealed the penny-pinching lifestyle she lived with Edelsten during their whirlwind romance in 2014 and brief marriage in 2015, a scenario which is in stark contrast to the image created by the pair during those heady months.
“Everybody holds this vision that Geoffrey Edelsten was a rich guy but it wasn’t like that,” Grecko told A Current Affair.
“Hell no, the thing that people don’t know is that I Iived the lifestyle for probably a month.
“I arrived in Australia and he had all those cars and he still had the penthouse, but then I went back to New York, because every three months I had to go back to New York, and I came back and all the cars were gone.
“When I wanted a dress, or something, he would be like ‘we have to save for it’.
“So it is very (much a) comedy when people talk about me inheriting money, I am like, ‘no, more like I am going to inherit millions of dollars in debt’.”
Grecko said while she was still married to Edelsten at the time of his death, despite having separated several years earlier, she did not want anything from his estate.
“I don’t want anything and I have made that clear,” she said.
Edelsten died in his Melbourne apartment on June 11, 2021.
June 11 was the day he and Grecko, whose real name is Gabrielle Curtis, wed in 2015.
His life was full of controversy and drama, particularly his romantic life that saw him marry three times; firstly to Leanne Nesbitt, then Brynne Gordon and finally Grecko.
His highest profile wife, Brynne Gordon, said in a 2016 interview their marriage crumbled because Edelsten was a cheater who was addicted to online dating sites.
She also revealed in that interview that the pair never had sex.
Edelsten and Gordon tied the knot in a $3 million extravaganza at Crown in 2009, complete with Seinfeld star Jason Alexander, The Nanny star Fran Drescher and Margot Robbie as guests.
She was 25, he was 65, and the bride knew barely a handful of guests in the 550-strong room.
Their love match, however, was beset by challenges just weeks after the glitzy nuptials when Brynne discovered her husband’s dirty little secret — he was frequenting an online dating site.
“I found out not long after the wedding and I felt like a fool, like an absolute fool, because I had come to Australia, I had married this man and there was a lot of public interest, and I was like: ‘Oh my god, what did I do?’,’’ Brynne said.
Despite assurances that his interest in sites such as sugardaddy4me.com was finished, Brynne said his secret online life continued during their marriage.
“Geoff was addicted to dating websites and Geoff loved to go meet other girls,’’ she said.
“When I would go and visit my family (in America) he would have other girls come to Australia. When he would go to America he would take other girls travelling with him.
“That was something I was not OK with and he knew I was not OK with it. He would lead these other women to believe he was in the process of getting a divorce.
The pair split in 2013 with their separation becoming public in 2014.
