Queensland Channel 9 reporter Mia Glover has announced the arrival of her second child, a baby girl, into the world just weeks after a memorable and unconventional on-air farewell that captured the attention of viewers across the state.
Glover, known for her roles as a weekend news presenter and reporter for the Today show, took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce the early arrival of her daughter, Winifred Glover.
“Aaaand she’s here. Winifred Glover. Already calling the shots by arriving early. Winnie, you complete our world,” Glover captioned a series of photos featuring her newborn.
The 9 News star looked glowing in the hospital bed, cradling her baby girl.
Winifred’s birth comes just a few weeks after her mum made headlines for a rather peculiar send-off during a live broadcast from a Gold Coast crime scene.
In a now viral moment, a heavily pregnant Glover was reporting on a break-in at an Ormeau tobacco shop when Today show hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo interrupted the segment to bid her farewell as she prepared for maternity leave.
As police combed through the crime scene in the background, Glover was gifted a bouquet of flowers and a tiny onesie embroidered with the Today logo.
“Beautiful happiness in front of a crime scene in Queensland, says everything about Queensland, doesn’t it?” Stefanovic said jokingly.
This marks the second child for Glover and her husband, Paul, with their son Albert born in December 2019.
Prior to her maternity leave, Glover expressed excitement about expecting a baby girl, saying, “This is going to be a mini-me, which is a bit crazy … I don’t know if the world’s ready for it.”
