‘Yeah, happy is probably not the emotion’

Kylie Minogue has revealed she was not happy when she first heard Neighbours would be revived, after making the trek back to Australia to play Charlene in the supposed finale.

Kylie Minogue has finally opened up about the surprise return of Neighbours saying she was “miffed” when she discovered the final episode of the show wasn’t actually the end of the series.

Minogue made a celebrated return to Ramsay Street last year for a lauded appearance as Charlene Mitchell in what was, at that stage, the final ever episode of the long running soap.

And then, late last year the axed show was thrown an unexpected lifeline by Amazon Freevee. Neighbours resumed filming in Melbourne in April this year.

“Yeah, happy is probably not the emotion,” Minogue told Scotland’s Tay FM station when asked her reaction when told Neighbours was back.

“You know, miffed may have been the word,” she says with a chuckle in a short video clip of the chat widely shared on Twitter.

“But I know, (talking) with the producer, he said they genuinely didn’t know (the show would be saved), so all the affection and love that went into the final episode was truth.

“I am happy for them now and I am interested to see how it is going to change.”

Meanwhile Neighbours’ international import Mischa Barton has hightailed it out of Ramsay Street.

Barton, who found fame in the US series The OC, has been in Melbourne since late April working on the rebooted series.

She has now wrapped her guest role and left Australia.
