Why Real Housewives of Melbourne star stormed off set

One member of the Real Housewives of Melbourne will miss several episodes in the upcoming series after a major bust-up during filming.

The catty claws of The Real Housewives of Melbourne have been sharpened this year with one cast member quitting the show part-way through filming and another describing the runaway housewife as not “housewife worthy”.

Respected journalist Anjali Rao is believed to have put her foot down at the antics of two of her co-stars in particular, turned on her Louboutin heel and sashayed off set about two thirds of the way through filming of the much anticipated 5th season of the hit show.

The walk off came at the end of June meaning that she will be missing from at least the last two episodes of the 10 part series that is tipped to air in October.

It is unclear if Rao will return for the recording of the traditionally friction-prone reunion special.

“Anjali did not get along with Gamble and Janet, there were problems there,” a source said.

While Foxtel played the no comment card about Rao’s walk-off, her fellow housewife Janet Roach, while not naming Rao, had a lot to say about the disappearing cast member on the Unpopular podcast.

“She decided she didn’t want to do it anymore,” adding the individual was not “housewife worthy”.

“She can crap on as much as she likes that ‘Oh it was all fake’, but simply she could not keep up and you know why because she was not a housewife in the beginning and she didn’t fit the muster,” Roach told Unpopular.

“She was never going to be a housewife. I am not being awful, I am just being honest. She couldn’t keep up with the time, she could not keep up with outfits.

“We don’t mind, we would rather you come and just be yourself. I think she is running around and saying ‘Oh it is fake and it is not for me.’

“The fact of the matter is she could not keep up. She struggled the whole way through.”

Roach, one of the original Real Housewives of Melbourne cast members, said from the beginning she felt some of the new additions to the show were not up to scratch.

Rao joined the cast this year along with Simone Elliott, Kyla Kirkpatrick and Cherry Dipietrantonio.

“I don’t believe that some of them are actually housewife worthy......which was fine because we did not know them in the beginning.......but you can’t go the whole season

and not get caught out....... and why are you even in there, and who the f--k actually are you?”
