Three bachelors will be a triple treat vying for the hearts of viewers as Channel 10 supersizes its flagging dating series in an attempt to breathe new life into the franchise.
And in an move to sex up the show is it believed ‘fantasy suites’ will be introduced.
Melbourne basketballer Felix Von Hofe, Sydney lifestyle trainer Thomas Malucelli and Jed McIntosh, a drummer who hails from Drouin West in Gippsland, are the team of single blokes looking for their one true love from a field of female suitors on the Gold Coast-based show this season.
Multiple bachelors is not the only change the show has undergone this year.
The ‘fantasy suite’, which is a fancy name for a bedroom, is a concept that has been a staple of the US version of The Bachelor and Bachelorette for years and gives contestants a chance to fully test their intimate compatibility.
Once a bachelor has narrowed his potential love interests down to a final three, he can invite them – individually – to spend a night in the fantasy suite, according to the So Dramatic podcast.
Three Bachelors, bedrooms and more suitors: it sounds like the show is moving towards MAFS territory.
Another change is expected to see the Bachelors meet their potential suitors in a series of fast first dates before the cast moves into the Bachelor mansion next week.
Malucelli, 35, who is described on his social media as a ‘transformation coach’, is a former restaurant manager who has worked in Sydney, New York and Italy.
McIntosh, 25, is a drummer who has played with Kylie Minogue.
He started playing drums at the age of four and his career took off at age 13 when he began playing in the session industry around Melbourne.
He has gone on to tour internationally and is a producer.
He plays with the band Mood Monroe.
Von Hofe, 27, is a basketballer who plays with the Melbourne Tigers.
He hails from Melbourne, studied in the US and played for the Washington Eagles.
He is also a podcaster and is a towering 198cm tall (6 foot 5 inches).
The Bachelor will film at its new Gold Coast pad until July.
The Bachelor needs to lift on its uninspiring ratings last season when the final, which saw Jimmy Nicholson pick Holly Kingston, drew just 629,000 overnight metro viewers.
That number was impressive compared to the grand final figures for Brooke Blurton’s season of The Bachelorette which saw just 439,000 overnight metro viewers tune in to see Blurton select Darvid Garayeli as her match.
Channel 10 is yet to confirm any participants in this year’s season of The Bachelor.
