The Rundown: Melbourne Tigers player Felix Von Hofe revealed as new Bachelor

A towering Melbourne Tigers basketballer has been revealed as the man Channel 10 are hoping can help the Bachelor bounce back.

Channel 10 puts out casting call for ‘men and women’ to star in The Bachelor 2022

A Melbourne basketballer appears to have landed the gig as Australia’s new Bachelor.

Melbourne Tigers player Felix Von Hofe is on the Gold Coast and has been snapped in pictures published by the Daily Mail Australia, filming what appears to be a first date with a stunning blonde.

Von Hofe, 27, is a strapping six foot five.

He hails from Melbourne, studied in the US and played for the Washington Eagles.

He is also a podcaster.

The Bachelor has moved its base from Sydney to the Gold Coast this year and for months it has been rumoured that the location is not the only big change in store for the show.

Channel 10 declined to comment.

The franchise needs a kickstart after last year’s double whammy of Jimmy Nicholson not drawing huge ratings and the disappointing turn of Brooke Blurton as the Bachelorette.

Lego build goes on despite shaky numbers

Lego Masters Australia’s season wrapped on Monday night with the announcement of Newcastle brothers Joss and Henry as winners drawing 702,000 viewers.

The main body of the show had 669,000 viewers.

The overnight numbers were down from last year when the show drew 932,000 before rising to 1.03m for the winner announcement.

Despite the softening of overnight viewing numbers year on year there is no question about the show’s future.

It will be back next year with Hamish Blake hosting.

Neighbours deserves a Logies nod

As Neighbours enters its last weeks of filming, the show had a sad surprise on Sunday when the nominations for the Logie Awards were announced.

The show, which will cease production after 37 years on June 10, failed to garner a single nomination.

Usually the soap, which admittedly has not had flash ratings in Australia for some years, pulls a nomination in a most popular acting category.

Unfortunately, this year, none of the cast nor the show were recognised.

The final ever episode of Neighbours will air on 10 Peach on August 1.

Hopefully, the show will still be celebrated at the Logies for its extraordinary contribution to the Australian TV landscape.

Neighbours has provided a launching pad for numerous careers both in front of the camera and behind. It has been a training ground for a generation of actors and provided a slice of suburban Australia life to millions of international viewers.

Having clocked up 37 years, it is Australia’s longest running drama. The show has also collected a swag of Logie Awards over the decades.

It absolutely deserves to be acknowledged and celebrated at Australian TV’s night of nights.
