A-list celebrities reveal their perverted desires and deluded entitlement once they step behind the velvet curtain of strip clubs according to former Melbourne lap dancer Samantha Ross.

Ross has bared all about the kinky demands of superstars from film and music who see strippers as fleshy fantasy and toys to play with in her memoir Sunshine: The Diary of A Lap Dancer.

“There is not a single celebrity in the book that is not completely A-list and known in all four corners of the planet and probably in distant solar systems too,” Ross said.

“They were coming to strip clubs believing their own hype, but I guess if the whole world tells them how fantastic they are, and if you hear it enough times, you believe it.

“It was almost as if strippers were so unimportant that they couldn’t have any kind of opinion about the sorts of perversions that they willingly shared with us and wanted us to participate in.

“We were just dolls, basically, to them with no brain and they were quite shocked when we would not be like, ‘Yes, we will come home and dress as dolls and lie on the bed and pretend to be dead so you can whack off over us’.”

Ross said many celebrities poured out their darkest secrets to strippers because they “believed a stripper just did not matter.”

“They literally did not see us as having a brain and they would share the most outrageous stories and perversion because they honestly believed a stripper just did not matter,” she said.

“So not only are we there to be naked, but we are obviously idiots for doing it and on call to be their plaything.

“You are just so completely unimportant. You are an object of fantasy nothing more and unlike normal men, normal men know they can’t order you around, but celebrities get to order the entire planet around and they are shocked when it is any different with a stripper because they believe they can order us around even more so.”

Ross said despite years of experience in strip clubs around Australia she was still shocked by people’s perversions and kinky desires.

“I am surprised every single day,” she said.

“Just when you think you get used to humans, no they come up with something else to shock you or traumatise you.

“I have learnt that being warped is an individual trait. You build up a resilience to degradation.”

She said adult clubs saw men behave in ways they would never do so in the outside world.

“I don’t think men are dumb. I think they are driven by primal desire which makes them lose their wits,” Ross said.

“I also place men in two categories: the guys who very infrequently visit strip clubs and the guys who are addicted to them, and they are the ones that I would consider less liable to use their brain.”

Ross no longer works as a stripper but she has used her vast and wild experience as the basis for Sunshine, which is named in honour of her lap dancing pseudonym.

“I do like having a life without the drama,” she said.

“I have always wanted to be a writer and I guess everything falls into place when it is supposed to. I thought it was best to start off writing what I know.”

Sunshine: The Diary of a Lap Dancer by Samantha C. Ross, published by Allen and Unwin, $32.99. Available now from all good bookstores.
