Nathan Brown is going to have a bit of explaining to do when Tony Jones returns to the Sunday Footy Show host seat Sunday morning.
Jones has a few points to make to his seat warmer, Brown, who has been filling-in as host while TJ was in London covering Wimbledon.
Brown, arguably, took a few liberties during his absence, including launching an online petition, which attracted 669 supporters, to keep Jones in the UK.
“I haven’t seen the show while I was away, but my intel is that Nathan is probably getting a little carried away and maybe he needs a little reminder that you sometimes just have to stay in your lane,” Jones said.
He added he was made aware of the petition by his wife.
“I said ‘bulls--t’ when she told me,” he said.
“I did fire off a little text message to the producer about that saying ‘probably not that funny’.
“Nathan has texted me a couple of times and I have just let it go through to the keeper, not because I don’t like him, I just thought ‘you can sweat.’
“One panel member, who will remain nameless, did text me saying ‘can’t wait ‘til you get back’.”
Jones said part of the success of the Sunday Footy Show was the cheeky camaraderie of the panellists.
“We do play rough, but we really do get on well,” he said.
“I think the world of Nathan, I think he is a terrific bloke, and it is good that all of us on the show are genuinely good friends.
“But, I am quite sure the gloves will be off on Sunday.”
