Twilight Beach Polo ambassador Alex Pike plans to train in Beverley Hills and Dubai, to polish her skills in the booming cosmetic injectables field.
Pike, who recently split from former Pies coach Nathan Buckley, looked stunning in a white two-piece outfit by Melbourne designer Alin Le’Kal, teamed with a dramatic wide brimmed hat by Wendy Scully, at Saturday’s St Kilda event.
“This is amazing for Melbourne,” Pike said of the celebration of sand, sun and horsepower.
“I am here with my friends today. I am really honoured to be the ambassador for the polo and it is lovely to be able to share this experience with my friends,” she smiled.
Pike is set to log considerable air miles this year as her business continues to grow.
“With the increase in Zoom meetings we have found a real upturn in cosmetic business because everyone is looking at themselves all day,” she said.
“So the practice is very busy. I have a very long waiting list at the moment for South Yarra. I am still working in Albury, but once we are able to travel I will be spending a bit of time in Dubai. “There are a number of excellent cosmetic clinics over there so I will be doing some education and training over there.
“I am also going to Beverley Hills in April to do further training. I really want to introduce some new treatments to the practice and to do so I need to do a little bit of travel to seek out experts in their field.”
After a two-year hiatus due to the Covid pandemic, the party returned to St Kilda Beach on Saturday, with the Twilight Beach Polo tournament providing a tantalising mix of glamour and horsepower.
The event featured six of Australia’s best polo teams in action on the sand, in the shadows of St Kilda’s palm tree lined shoreline.
But while there was plenty of intrigue among the players on the field, there was just as much, if not more, as celebrities came out of their lockdown hibernation to mingle over champagne.
Sporting stars, models, TV identities and business leaders including Shane Warne, Sam Newman, Alex Pike, Michelle Payne, Shaynna Blaze, Tottie Goldsmith, Wayne Carey, Andrew Westacott, Daria Valamova, Simone Elliott, Cherry Dipietrantonio, Kyla Kirkpatrick, Mia Fevola and Paris Bishop were among the guests getting into the polo groove as the Twilight Beach Cup was delivered from the heavens in style by the Skydive Melbourne team.

Event founder Brad Taylor said it was great to see Melbourne come alive again and play host to world-class polo and entertainment.
The event supported the Treasure Chest charity which raises funds for the shared breast cancer services at the Royal Melbourne and Royal Women’s Hospital.
Celebrity interior designer Shaynna Blaze said she felt the polo marked a turning point where people were no longer scared to mingle and be part of events.
“I have not felt this vibe for two years, but, at the same time, I reckon most people are now triple vaxxed and we are just like ‘we are going to get our lives back on track now’,” Blaze said.
“Everyone is so happy at this event, no one is scared. I think we have been living in such a scared environment. It feels really good to be here.”
I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here star Tottie Goldsmith said the polo gave her hope normality was returning to Melbourne after the lockdowns.
“To be out and amongst it and to see the horses on the beach is so beautiful,” she said.
“I think we all needed this. There are no masks, we are outside, there is no social distancing, it feels like we are normal.”
Goldsmith caught up with her ‘jungle sister’ Pettifleur Berenger at the event.
The pair were contestants on different seasons of I’m A Celebrity but felt bonded over their similar experiences.
“We are jungle sisters, we are family now,” Berenger said.
“We have respect for each for what we all experienced on the show especially after braving the long drop with the flies buzzing around your butt.”
