Two years after The Block’s “tree change” at Gisborne South finished airing, one of the properties renovated as part of that season of the hit show remains on the market with an asking price of more than $3.8m.
Known as “Camalot”, the five-bedroom, four-bathroom home which was made over by Block host Scott Cam is still seeking a buyer.
The property, at 207 McGeorge Rd, Gisborne, is arguably the most interesting and picturesque of the homes offered as part of The Block’s “tree change” season in 2022 as it was built out from the original cottage that sat on the farm that was bought and subdivided by Channel 9 for the show.
The historic cottage, which sits on 10 acres (4.04ha), was built in 1866 and has been sympathetically renovated and extended to create a luxury country retreat less than an hour’s drive from Melbourne.
It features French doors in every room opening to outdoor spaces, open-plan living and dining areas with herringbone brick floors, a central fireplace, a gourmet kitchen featuring a custom Christian Cole reclaimed timber island, a five bay garage and workshop, an in-ground pool with cabana, a 7-Star energy rating, a 50kw solar farm with battery storage and backup generator, and a 250,000-litre water storage with bore water access.
The home was not auctioned during the grand final episode of The Block in 2022 when the five houses renovated by the contestants went under the hammer.
Instead it was held back before officially hitting the market in November 2023.
A year on, while there has been interest in the home, it remains unsold with a price guide of between $3.8m to $3.9m.
Kirrily Evans from Evans Realty Group said the outstanding property was full of character and history and was the perfect country retreat.
“There has been interest and we have had multiple groups look at it, it is just about finding the right person,” Ms Evans said.
“It offers an exceptional overall lifestyle experience. It is the perfect country retreat while being so close to Melbourne.”
The Block wrapped its Phillip Island season on November 10 with Melbourne billionaire Adrian Portelli buying all five of the houses on offer.
The show moves to Daylesford in 2025 with plans for a five house subdivision on the outskirts of the tourist town.
