Radio industry colleagues and friends have rallied around Fox FM’s Workday presenter and assistant content director Tim Lee who is recovering in hospital after he was thrown from his motorbike in a collision with a car in South Melbourne.
Lee suffered a broken pelvis and bruising in the incident which occurred on Friday as he was leaving his Fox FM workplace to begin a seven day holiday.
“Brain injury, broken fingers, spinal fracture ... None of that happened after a Volkswagen ploughed into me making a turn at full speed without indicating as I was leaving work to enjoy 7 days of annual leave!!,” Lee posted on social media.
“The bruising isn’t great, the helmet is cactus, but the broken pelvis is easily the worst part. 0 stars.
“In the scheme of things I got off lightly. Sh*t happens, will just make me even more careful when I get to swing a leg over in 3-4 months.”
Despite his discomfort, Lee could find some humour in his situation when he was wheeled into the Fox Family Trauma Wing at the Alfred Hospital after being treated at the accident scene and transported to hospital by ambulance.
“Big love to my radio crew, the #FoxFamily (a reference to the name of the hospital unit) and everyone who reached out with offers of help, cooking, looking after kids, etc.. I feel much love x”
On Tuesday, Lee shared an image of his deeply bruised inner thighs.
Lee’s Fox FM shift is for the moment being covered by Ellie Angel-Mobbs and Brad Wood.
Victoria Police confirmed it was investigating the accident that left Lee injured.
“Police are investigating a collision in South Melbourne on Friday, May 9,” Victoria Police said.
“It is understood a car and a motorcycle collided at the intersection of Moray Street and York Street about 2pm.
“The driver of the Volkswagen Passat, a 27-year-old Fawkner man, was not injured.
“The motorcycle rider, a 41-year-old Hawthorn man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“The Volkswagen driver was issued an infringement notice.”
