Spin king Shane Warne is planning to build a $5 million palatial getaway in the exclusive beachside enclave of Portsea complete with its own bowling alley and jet ski garage.
Plans have been submitted to the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council on Warne’s behalf detailing the private resort-like home envisioned for the property which the cricketing great purchased for $3.6 million in October last year.
Portsea is Melbourne’s playground for establishment families, business titans, entrepreneurs, sporting greats and the very well-heeled.
The expansive main residence is set to include a gym, theatre, games room, library, bowling alley, jet ski garage, three car garage, wine cellar, observation deck, a vast master bedroom with ensuite, dressing area and walk in robe, and two other bedrooms.
The four bedroom guest wing is built around a pool and features a music room, alfresco bar and separate alfresco BBQ area.
The property is situated close to the Sorrento Golf Club and a short walk to Shelly Beach.
The council planning application estimates the cost of the project at $5 million.
When Warne bought the property last year it came with conceptional plans for a contemporary four bedroom, architectural home.
Those plans were put aside with Warne preferring to create his own purpose built seaside party oasis.
The elegant proposed residence continues Warne’s track record for creating luxury homes perfect for family and fun.
He has previously renovated or built a number of uber luxe homes in the Brighton area.
He bought the Middle Crescent home known as Melville in 2000 for $3.6 million, before selling it for $8.8 million in 2017. He then bought it back for $14.2 million in 2016, before selling it again for $18.8 million a couple of years later.
Some of his other buys include 16 Park St, Brighton which he bought for $3.7 million in 2007 and sold for $6.7 million in 2009.
He purchased 6 William St, Brighton for $7.5 million in 2009 and sold for $10.8 million in 2013. Last year he sold his home at 15 Newbay Crescent, Brighton for $5.7 million.
Warne is currently in England.
