She is one of the rising stars of boxing, but SAS: Australia star Ebanie Bridges has told how it is her feet rather than her fists that have fans, with enthusiasts shelling out huge money for her sweaty socks.

Bridges, who is known as the ‘Blonde Bomber’, fights for the IBF bantamweight world title in Leeds in March, has sold her dirty socks for as much as $1000 and she has a price of $5000 on the pair she will wear in her title bout.

She has kept the socks she wore on SAS: Australia and is prepared to part with them - for the right price.

“It is a f**king weird thing,” Bridges said of her sock side hustle which started after a request out of the blue via Twitter for a photo of her footwear.

“I’ll put a picture on Instagram if I am getting a pedicure and I will censor my toes or feet and I will say ‘if you want to see the final product DM me’ and I will get messages flooding in saying ‘how much?’

“I will make a couple of hundred quid just from that.

“I had someone from Denmark pay me $2500 for a pair of my dirty socks. They were just dirty training socks. I don’t want to even think about what they do with them. It is weird, it is a fetish.”

A mere photo of her socks sells for $150 and she has no shortage of buyers.

“I made about $6000 in four weeks (a couple of years ago),” she said.

“I had sock fetish people inboxing me from around the world, from about 20 different countries.”

Curiously her socks aren’t big down under.

“I have never sold a pair of socks to someone in Australia. It is not big in Australia but socks and feet are definitely big in the UK and Europe,” she said.

Bridges, who was born in Sydney and is a maths teacher who speaks five languages, said she signed on to SAS: Australia to show women they can be feminine and tough.

“I have never really given up and I have never really quit and nothing has ever really been too hard and I just wanted to see if I had a breaking point,” she said.

“I also wanted to prove that you can be feminine and you can be girly and you can be tough because in the first few seasons of SAS a lot of the models and pretty girls, they all wanted to quit in the first day or so and that pissed me off.

“I was going to show you can actually be really feminine and have fake boobs and want to look like a princess and be really tough.”

Bridges said she was confronted with fire, her worst fear, on day one.

“When the first task was me getting lit on fire I was like ‘you are f**king kidding me, mate’,” she said.

“And then the second day I nearly f**king drowned (in the beehive water challenge).

“I went in there with a fear of fire and came out with a fear of water.”

The other challenges such as being tear gassed, pepper sprayed, the beastings and the assault course, did not bother her.

Her biggest challenge was her expectation of herself.

“I was just not happy with not being the best. My expectations of myself were so high and I was never satisfied,” she said.

SAS: Australia launches Monday, February 21 on Channel 7.
