Soap star and former Bachelorette Sam Frost has revealed she quit her “dream job” on the long running drama Home And Away for mental health reasons, not because of Covid vaccine concerns.
And she said she was now prioritising her health and her relationships and spending time with people she loved after being distant, absent and unavailable to those who were most important to her for the past four years.
Frost, who has returned to her family home in Melbourne, explained her much talked about decision to quit the popular show after sharing an inspirational comment about Australian Open winner Ash Barty and her decision several years ago to take a break from tennis.
“I quit my dream job at Home And Away to look after my mental health,” Frost wrote on her Believe by Sam Frost Instagram page.
“I needed to take a step back, go home and be with my family. And most importantly take good care of my health and wellbeing.
“I now spend the days with the people I love, doing the things I’ve always wanted to do but couldn’t because I was too busy working.
“I spent 4.5 years being a distant friend, a distant girlfriend, a sister who couldn’t be there for big milestone moments.
“Now, I’m making up for lost time.
“I’m prioritising my health and my relationships.
“Sometimes I wake up and panic about money, work and being able to afford my mortgage. but then I remind myself the importance of putting our mental health first, and taking time out to heal our mind, body & soul. The rest will fall into place.”
Frost, 32, who played Jasmine Delaney on Home And Away for four and a half years, finished the post with hashtag #healing.
In October Frost took to social media to reveal she was yet to be vaccinated and was concerned that non-vaccinated people were being segregated in the community.
Following significant backlash, and a mandate from Seven that all cast and crew had to be vaccinated, she told her social media followers she would be double vaccinated by “mid-late February” as she had a medical procedure booked in January.
A matter of weeks later she quit the show.
It has since been revealed by her Home And Away co-star Lynne McGranger that Frost is now double vaccinated and that “the door is open” for her to return to Home And Away.
Frost is set to launch a self-help book about mental health called Believe by Sam Frost in March.
