Rumours of ‘enthusiastic’ price tag for Block farmlets

Filming has only just started but already rumours are swirling over how much The Block properties will sell for, with an eye-watering sum bandied about.

It might only be less than a week since filming finally started on The Block, but the massive production and renovation project has got rumours flying around the Macedon Shire.

The show is this year set in Gisborne South and the teams of contestants have each been given the enormous task to create luxury mini-estates on a 10-acre block.

In recent days the green change telegraph has been running hot with ‘guesstimates’ on how much each property could fetch at auction in November with one source claiming the figure of $7m had been bandied about.

The Block executive producer Julian Cress moved yesterday to quell the flattering speculation about the properties that are still very much under construction.

“If the properties could set that price each then the couples who have been lucky enough to land themselves a role on this series will be set for life and so will their grandchildren,” Cress said.

“I do think that is quite an enthusiastic number and I am not aware of any 10-acre properties that are around here that have gotten anywhere near that.

“We are just so thrilled to be here. I think this is going to be such a special series for the contestants.”

The Block is undertaking its biggest challenge ever with its Gisborne South subdivision.

Among the contestants taking part are former Neighbours favourite Sharon Johal and her husband Ankur Dogra and fashion influencer Elle Ferguson and her fiance, ex-AFL player Joel Patfull.
