Reality TV regular Pettifleur Berenger has revealed there are two Pettifleurs — the one that appeared on the Real Housewives of Melbourne and the ‘real’ one that is on show on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!

And she says shaking off her brusque Housewives persona and the haters it attracted was a key reason why she signed up for I’m A Celebrity.

“I am forever grateful for having the opportunity to be part of Real Housewives,” she said.

“As a person, as Pettifleur, I was just absolutely grateful and fortunate. As the Pettifleur on the show I had a job to do and that job was to create as much drama as possible.

“The show was based on extreme wealth and extreme drama and I thought I did my job well, but the downside to doing a job like well is that people tend to hate you. They don’t like you being mean.

“I don’t want the Real Housewives of Melbourne Pettifleur to tag along with me for the rest of my life.

“I loved the show but hopefully I have been able to shred that image and be the Pettifleur that I am to my friends and family on I’m A Celebrity.”

Berenger said doing something different after months of lockdown in Melbourne was another reason why she said yes to the show.

“I am scared of everything on this show, but when you are in isolation and you have been sitting around your home for months on end and an opportunity like this comes up, you would be mad not to say yes,” she said.

“It was like ‘get me the hell out of my house, I want to get out and do something’.”
