The glamorous nieces of Princess Diana, Lady Eliza and Lady Amelia, have been announced as special guests at this year’s Melbourne Cup.

The glamorous nieces of Princess Diana will add international style and society elegance as special guests of the Victoria Racing Club at this year’s Melbourne Cup.
Twins, Lady Eliza Spencer and Lady Amelia Spencer, are the VRC Ambassadors for the 2023 Melbourne Cup Carnival with the British-born sisters set to attend Cup Day and Oaks Day.
Their presence at the Cup will continue a family tradition. Princess Diana was a guest at the Cup in 1985 while their sister, Kitty, was a Flemington attendee in 2015 and 2019.
Lady Eliza and Lady Amelia, who are the daughters of Princess Diana’s brother Charles, grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, before relocating to London in 2021 where they have modelling careers.
They will be part of the Fashions on the Field judging panel on both Cup and Oaks day.
“We’re thrilled to be attending the Melbourne Cup Carnival for the first time to witness the elegance and excitement first-hand,” said Lady Eliza.
Lady Amelia said: “Racewear delivers the perfect blend of tradition and innovation, and we’re looking forward to seeing this come to life at Flemington.
It will be wonderful to share the spirit of this world-renowned celebration of racing as judges for the famous Melbourne Cup Carnival Fashions on the Field competition.”
VRC CEO Steve Rosich said he was looking forward to welcoming the Spencers to Flemington.
“We are honoured to have Lady Eliza and Lady Amelia join us as ambassadors for the 2023 Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Their presence in the global fashion world, along with their well-documented sense of style, resonate perfectly with the glamorous atmosphere at Flemington across Cup Week,” Rosich said.
“With their involvement, we look forward to elevating the Melbourne Cup Carnival Fashions on the Field competition to new heights, setting a truly international standard for this storied competition.”
