Night-life king Nick Russian has revealed details of his new lounge bar concept that he hopes will set a new standard for late night entertainment in Melbourne.
Russian, who owned Eve Nightclub and runs Together Events, is hoping to open Bar Bambi in Melbourne’s CBD in September if the COVID-19 crowd restrictions have lifted.
Russian has drawn inspiration from international venues such Delilah, an up-market supper club in Los Angeles, for Bar Bambi, which will be sophisticated, stylish and luxe.
He said people were looking for more than just a nightclub experience these days.
“I still believe people like to be entertained. They like good music, good food and good drinks and something that has been big in America for the last couple of years is this hybrid bar concept,” Russian said.
“It is not a nightclub, it is not a restaurant, it fits between the two almost like a lounge experience and that is what we are trying to do here with Bambi.
“Monday to Friday come in for a drink or a bite to eat and there will be a singer or a DJ, and then late Saturday night, it becomes a bit of a party.”
Russian said he was hoping COVID-19 restrictions on crowd numbers would be safely but substantially loosened by later this year, noting that if gatherings were limited to 100 people it would make running a night-time hospitality venue unviable.
“We just have to sit there and wait and when they release the restrictions I think there will be plenty of people looking forward to getting out and having a drink.”
