Channel 10’s beloved cooking series MasterChef has resumed filming after being paused due to a Covid outbreak among the cast and crew.
The show’s Ascot Vale base was back in full swing on Friday, after the shut down.
Several social media posts late last week from those associated with the show showed the cameras were rolling again.
Filming was halted for about a week while members of the production isolated and recovered. News of the pause in filming was revealed by the Sunday Herald Sun last Saturday.
The company producing the show for Channel 10, Endemol Shine Australia, confirmed last Saturday filming had been paused.
“Shooting on the upcoming season of MasterChef Australia: Fans & Favourites has been temporarily suspended due to several positive Covid cases within the production. Our judges, cast and crew are fully vaccinated, and we look forward to resuming filming shortly,” an Endemol Shine Australia spokesperson said.
The new season of the show is tagged Fans & Favourites and sees 12 home cooks face off against 12 returning MasterChef favourites.
Among the well-known favourites returning to the show are MasterChef series one winner Julie Goodwin and Sarah Todd. Michael Weldon, Tommy Pham, Alvin Quah and Sashi Cheliah are also expected to be among the favourites taking part in the much loved cooking series.
The show’s celebrated judges Melissa Leong, Jock Zonfrillo and Andy Allen will also be back dishing out advice and constructive criticism in 2022.
