Hollywood star Margot Robbie’s younger brother is following in his famous sister’s celebrated footsteps and has joined Neighbours.
Cameron Robbie, 25, has moved into Ramsay Street playing wealthy lifeguard Jesse Porter, a fun loving character who takes a summer job at Lassiters bar.
Robbie said his Oscar-nominated sister had told him to work and train hard to develop his acting skills.
“Margot, like many of my industry friends or go-to professionals say a similar thing of work hard, train hard, be kind and grateful, and enjoy the experience,” he said.
“But it’s always comforting to know that if I ever need her she’s only a phone call away.”
Robbie said he did not feel pressure to live up to Margot’s success.
“I’ve been working in and around film sets, behind the camera, since I was in high school and I’ve always studied acting and film since that time as well,” he said.
“There’s definitely a strong ‘want’ to do well with my work and grow with my abilities.
“But no I don’t place pressure on myself regarding her success, only my own expectation that I work hard, pursue what I love and make it meaningful.
“Acting has always been my priority, so it’s great to be focusing on Jesse Porter at the moment and diving into this role on Neighbours.”
Robbie is based in Melbourne. He started filming his guest role with Neighbours late last year and his character will be first seen in episodes set to screen on Channel 10 in March.
Interestingly his on screen debut with the show will come 10 years since Margot, now 30, left Neighbours.
Margot was seen on the show as Donna Freedman from 2008 to 2011.
“I’m so grateful to kick off 2021 with this role on Neighbours. My experience on set so far has been great and welcoming and I can’t wait to continue with my passions for the rest of the year,” he said.
