Melbourne’s “Mr Lambo” Adrian Portelli has been charged with allegedly driving like a hoon in Diggers Rest.

The flashy luxury car enthusiast who dropped $39m on an East Melbourne penthouse last month and then staged a media moment by craning a $3m sports car into the property to be an ‘art piece’, appeared via video link from the sunny Gold Coast in the modest Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday facing three driving offences.

Portelli was charged just days before Christmas in 2020 with careless driving, failing to have proper control of a vehicle on a road and driving in a manner causing one or more wheels of a motor vehicle to lose traction.

The alleged hooning, according to the charges, happened on Licence Rd in Diggers Rest on December 22, 2020.

It was not revealed in court or on the charge sheet what vehicle he was driving at the time of the alleged offending.

Portelli, who grew up in Melbourne’s western suburbs, is defending the charges.

Portelli, 34, has been enjoying the media attention his big spending lifestyle, funded by his successful LMCT+ membership platform, has garnered in recent months.

He recently revealed he had “about $14 or $15 million worth of cars”, had “spent in the past 12 months at least over a million in watches and jewellery”.

He placed his LMCT+ Group on the market last month.

On Thursday night he rolled up to The Block in Hampton East in his Bentley (the unique number plate read ‘Bye’) and was filmed inspecting the show’s five houses with Scott Cam. He then told his social media followers “let’s go buy a house.”

The day before he had not been so happy being the centre of attention at the western suburb’s court with the Daily Mail reporting his barrister tried and failed to have his charges suppressed because Portelli was a public figure.

Portelli’s next date with the Sunshine Magistrates’ Court is July 17, where the charges are listed for mention.
