Karl Stefanovic stunning apology to Tony Jones after taking a cheap shot
It may be four years since his awkward onscreen attempt to smooch Bec Judd went viral, but Tony Jones is still copping flak for the gaffe. Now Karl Stefanovic has apologised to his colleague after blindsiding him with the clip.

Karl Stefanovic has issued a stunning apology to his Channel 9 colleague Tony Jones after taking a cheap shot at him on Today over his infamous Rebecca Judd kiss.
Jones was appearing on a panel segment on the show when Stefanovic blindsided him and played the respected sports presenter’s viral kiss that wasn’t moment from 2016.
Jones, who used to be Today’s sports presenter, played along but has previously made it clear he is well and truly tired of the joke.
So much so he has unofficially banned his colleagues from pranking him with the clip on The Sunday Footy Show.
Sounding like Mike Moore mimicking Ray Martin, Stefanovic recorded an apology to Jones that was played on The Sunday Footy Show last week.
“This is not easy for me to do, it is not often I will admit that I am wrong,” Stefanovic said.
“To the people of Victoria . but more importantly to the much loved Tony Jones himself, I say from the bottom of my heart I am truly sorry.
“To use what many still refer to as one of Australian TV’s top five moments as a cheap gag for LOLs was juvenile …. Tony, I love you and I promise the Today show will never ever, ever ever play it again, at least while I am in the chair.”
Jones said he never wanted to see the clip again.
“Today obviously did not know it is a bit of a sore point with me these days,” he said.
“A while ago I said, ‘Seriously, do not run it again.’ It is not fair on Bec and it is not fair on me. “I am happy to go with the flow on most things but I reckon enough is enough.”
