Andrew Bogut and Craig Hutchison locked in bitter war of words
A war of words has erupted between Andrew Bogut and Craig Hutchison, with the basketball champion savaging the CrocMedia boss after an on-air joke.

Basketball champion Andrew Bogut has blasted Craig Hutchison on social media, mocking the ratings of his radio station and predicting it would fail under his reign after the CrocMedia boss joked about him being “overpaid.”
Bogut’s savage comments came after Hutchison had a sly dig at Bogut, during a segment on his Off The Bench radio show on SEN, chuckling about him being overpaid by the Sydney Kings basketball team and saying he did not know why the international sporting star did not like him.
The comments resulted in Bogut posting a searing response on Twitter telling Hutchison to “keep my name out of your mouth.”
“Mr @craighutchy! Worry about your failing radio station ratings that are burning cash,” Bogut wrote.
“Looks like @1116sen will follow The Footy Show under your lead.
“I know VIC is in lockdown and you couldn’t grab your box or 10 of Krispy Kremes for breaky, but keep my name out of your mouth.”
Speaking to the Sunday Herald Sun after the show Hutchison said he was bemused by Bogut’s fiery tweet.
“I have no issue with Andrew. He has been great for Australian basketball and I take no offense,” he said.
“It is a good time now for everyone in the basketball community to come together.”
AFL commentator Kane Cornes then weighed in having a chip at Bogut’s swipe at Hutchison.
“You always complain about Twitter outrage yet react to a tongue in cheek ‘joke’ like this,” Cornes wrote.
Bogut’s return of serve was withering: “You work for SEN. Sit this one out …”
Many fans on Twitter backed Bogut with ‘Gusto’ accusing Cornes of hypocrisy: “Pot calling the kettle black there Kaneo. SENs entire business model is bullying, harassment and clickbait shit stirring. But the second anyone defends themselves you guys can take the heat, sh** your pants and have a bit of a cry in here.”
‘Philed In’ responded to Bogut with: “SEN has gone from my favourite station that I’d listen to religiously to this pretentious, sanctimonious crap that’s filled with ads.”
There was also support for Hutchison with one fan accusing Bogut of “fat shaming” the broadcaster.
The social media square up with the former Footy Show host came after Hutchison and his Off The Bench co-host Liam Pickering started a talk back segment calling for nominations for the Irrational Fan of the Century Team.
Partway through the segment they mentioned Bogut was getting a number of nominations off air from callers.
Hutchison, who is chairman of the Melbourne United basketball team, then wondered about Bogut’s basketball status.
“He has not got a team at the moment has he, Andrew,” he asked with Pickering clarifying that he was talking about a basketball team.
Pickering then suggested that Hutchison should “break bread” with Bogut.
“There comes a time in your life Picks where there is no more bread. I can’t break anymore bread with anymore people,” Hutchison said.
“What is baked is baked.”
When asked what was the foundation of the animosity between them, Hutchison said he did not know.
“I have never had an interaction with him in person or on the phone that was a bad one, but for whatever reason he does not like me, which is his prerogative,” he said.
“I will tell you what though, if we were happy to over pay him like the Sydney Kings are I am sure he would hold the sponsor’s sign and do the press conference.”
Hutchison finished by saying: “It was a little gag.”
Bogut clearly was not laughing along.
