A fire at his Melbourne home was the last thing Craig Hutchison needed after his Pacific Star Network company voluntarily suspended trading nine days ago.
“We have a fireplace and one of my great loves is to light the fireplace,” he told The Sounding Board.
“Unknown to me, on day two of the lock-in, my partner clare had put foam in to stop the draft coming in from the chimney and it was see-through.
“Clare had gone out to the supermarket, I had sat down with my laptop … and lit the fire. It caught a whiff of the foam … and the foam went up hard and what that did was it turboed this giant inferno and flame through my dining room.”
Hutchison put the flames out using vases of water.
