Jacqui Felgate is ready and raring to host the Brownlow Medal
Tonight Jacqui Felgate will make history as the first woman to host the Brownlow Medal. She reveals just how footy’s night of nights will work this year, and weighs in on the reaction to her getting the gig.

Despite being a game changer as the first woman to host the AFL Brownlow Medal count, Jacqueline Felgate says the night is not about her but the players who starred this year as well as being a celebration of an extraordinary footy season.
“At the end of the day it is about the players and we are just there to tell that story,” Felgate said.
“And whether you are a man or a woman, I just hope we do a great job. I feel like I am well prepared and I just hope everyone can enjoy the night.”
Felgate will co-host the event with Hamish McLachlan for Channel 7 on Sunday, October 18.
The broadcast will cross to six locations across the country with a total of 80 players in attendance.
A Brownlow Medal will be on standby in each state for the announcement of the winner.
Felgate said she had been overwhelmed by the support her announcement had received.
“On social media you think ‘are people going to be supportive of this decision?’ and I have been floored by how kind everyone has been,” she said.
“With this I could not tell you any specific comment that anyone said to me that was negative.
“You do worry when you put yourself out there (on social media) and you hear these terrible stories about women in sport, but in my experience I have been lucky.”
