Inside the million-dollar wardrobe of aspiring Melbourne mayoress Rozalia Russian

In an overt display of wealth usually avoided by those running for public office, the next potential Lady Mayoress of Melbourne, Rozalia Russian, claimed she was “crying on the inside” over ditching dozens of designer labels from her wardrobe.

Potential Lady Mayoress of Melbourne Rozalia Russian has provided an extraordinary glimpse of her designer label wardrobe as she chucks out luxury items she no longer wears or needs.

The eye-popping footage of international designer shoes and racks of pristine dresses, skirts and coats appeared on Russian’s social media on Friday as she was doing a major clothing cull.

She is sending the designer haul including pieces by Chanel, Gucci, Valentino, Bottega Veneta, YSL, Christian Louboutin, Aquazzura and Jacquemus, to be sold via the recycled fashion site PLC – Pre Loved Closet.

“I have Gucci bags, I have Jacquemus bags, I have Chanel shoes, I have Aquazzura heels, I have so many clothes as well, so stay tuned,” Russian told her followers.

“Gucci bags, Valentino bags, Bottegas, Jacquemus tassel bags, and then I have some coats, Camilla and Marc blazers, Dion Lee, Ellery, Zimmerman.

“I am kind of crying on the inside but I have so much stuff and it is time to say goodbye.

“I am excited to make some room in my closet.”

As a fashion influencer having a wardrobe full of high-end labels is not unusual.

What is surprising however is the overt show of affluence during her husband, Nick Russian’s, run for Lord Mayor of Melbourne.

Historically candidates and their families and support teams have shied away from shows of wealth and stuck, publicly at least, to conservative, relatable narratives.

“Each year I sell and donate items I’ve previously purchased for my fashion work and online store,” Russian said on Saturday.

“Previously I’ve donated clothing to the Salvation Army and funds to Beyond Blue.

“Again this year I am doing the same, however I prefer to make donations privately and don’t feel the need to post on social media when I make a private donation.

“I have always been a huge lover and supporter of Australian brands and will continue to support them during these tough times.”
