The Block star Deanne Penberthy Jolly is building a new life as a real estate agent and businesswoman following the breakdown of her marriage to former Collingwood premiership player Darren Jolly.

Like so many others, COVID-19 put the brakes on several of Jolly’s plans, however she is poised to officially launch her new interior design business, Fairweather Penberthy, with long-time friend Blanche Fairweather.

Penberthy Jolly is also studying to become a real estate agent and will start working with Sotheby’s on the Mornington Peninsula in the new year.

“I am excited about next year,” she said.

“I have a job with Sotheby’s and I will be working with them doing interiors and selling and listing on the peninsula.

“I am in the middle of doing my real estate licence at the moment. Real estate has been on my hit list for a long time. I love houses, I love property and I have a good relationship with Sotheby’s from buying and selling through them in Sorrento. They are such a great brand.”

Penberthy Jolly’s move into the real estate business will see her follow in the footsteps of The Block co-host, Shelley Craft, who recently became a licensed real estate agent in Australia’s celebrity hotspot, Byron Bay.

Penberthy Jolly, she recently added her maiden name to her surname, separated from Darren in August last year after 13 years of marriage.

The couple had become fan favourites after appearing on two seasons of The Block and had gone on to be successful renovators, flipping several stunning properties in recent years. They sold their former home in Surrey Hills in June for more than $1.7 million.

Penberthy Jolly said she was very positive about what lay ahead.

“There are lots of good things that come out of these hard times. There is a lot to learn and it has been a real growth period for me, in lots of ways, as a person,” she said.

“I am really happy with the direction things are going in and I think there is a lot to be grateful for and a lot to be excited about. There are good things on the horizon.”
