Channel 9 has splashed at least $11m on homes in a sleepy court in upmarket Hampton for the new season of the hit renovation show, The Block.

Producers of The Block have purchased five homes in Bronte Court through a Nine-owned company, MicJoy Pty Ltd, with details starting to seep out as to the exact amount paid for each property.

The show has forked out $2m for a weatherboard home at 10 Bronte Court.

Buyer’s advocate Nicole Jacobs, who regularly appears on the show, was paid $3.025m for her home at 8 Bronte Court.

It is likely producers have paid around the $2m mark for the other three houses they have acquired in the cul-de-sac.

All the deals were brokered earlier this year.

The Block is no stranger to big spends on property. And it would be hard to say no if someone knocked on your door out of the blue with a multimillion-dollar offer for your home.

The show bought a vacant piece of land in New Street, Brighton for $14.9m as the location of this year’s series.

It paid $10m for The Gatwick Hotel in St Kilda, which was the home of the show in 2018.

In 2019 the show was set at The Oslo backpackers in St Kilda. Nine paid $10.8m for the rundown former hotel.

The current season, which is hosted by Scott Cam and Shelley Craft, has seen five homes renovated in New Street, Brighton.

It has been yet another hit with fans and also, it would seem, with nearby residents.

Bayside City Council confirmed it had received just one complaint from residents about the New Street project during its construction.

The complaint was related to traffic management.
