Trendsetter Nadia Bartel found herself in a high fashion drama at a soggy Derby Day at Flemington on Saturday.
Bartel, who looked sleek in a dramatic Dion Lee dress, raised the eyebrows of the Flemington fashion police for the sexy cut out panels on the waist of her racy frock.
Bartel, who was co-hosting Studio 10 for Channel 10, had to be filmed sitting behind the desk and not on the move during the broadcast after her revealing panels were spotted by the VRC fashion minders.
The high fashion faux pas caught Bartel by surprise.
“It has a bit of an exaggerated sleeve on it and is not traditional racewear,” she said. “It has the high neck and the really long hemline. It is a little bit different. It is a little edgier.
“I did not even think about it being controversial? I just thought it was a white dress.”
Adding to the dress drama Bartel came face to face with model and yoga instructor, Lucy Brownless, who was wearing the same frock, as she made her way around the Birdcage.
Both women embraced and complimented each other on their good taste.
Bartel, who has endured a challenging year with the breakdown on her marriage to former Geelong player Jimmy Bartel, is embracing new opportunities in the world of TV.
She will be part of the Studio 10 hosting team tomorrow and Cup Day.
Bartel, whose youngest son, Henley, recently turned one, is an expert at making the juggle of family and professional life work during the Cup carnival.
