Geoffrey Edelsten’s grieving son Matthew Beard returned to Melbourne last week for the first time since he sadly farewelled his colourful and controversial father.
According to sources, Beard was in town to catch up with friends and notably spent time at Crown, the venue where Edelsten famously married his second wife Brynne Gordon in 2009.
Beard was spotted with two glamorous companions dining at Nobu.
The buffed, body builder with a gold grill recently had his father’s surname inked on his torso, above a huge tattoo of a tiger and two guns as a tribute to his dad.
“He is finding it difficult,” a friend said.
“He still hasn’t got over the fact of his passing.”
Edelsten died in June 2021. Beard is his only child.
While few in the general public knew that Edelsten had a son, Beard was part of his father’s life with the pair keeping in contact over the years.
It was no secret in family and wider friend’s circles who his dad was.
Beard was among the small group of mourners at Edelsten’s private funeral in Springvale in June last year.
He was in fact the only immediate family member to attend the service.
At 185cm in height and weighing in at a muscled 100kg, Beard cuts quite a different figure to his diminutive father.
He happily shows off the results of his tough gym routine with mirror selfies.
He shares a flare for fashion and jewelled accessories with his late father.
