The final night of the Australian Open has attracted more big names to Melbourne Park.
Watching the men’s final between Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev on Rod Laver Arena Sunday night will be the likes of actor Eric Bana, swimming gold medalists Ian Thorpe and Emma McKeon, Eddie McGuire, sport icon Shane Warne and cricketer David Warner and wife Candice.
Thorpe was also courtside to watch Ash Barty’s historic win on Saturday night, while Bana is a huge Nadal fan and attended one of his matches during the week.
Also in the crowd were new Collingwood president Jeff Browne and Federal treasurer Josh Frydenberg sitting alongside Channel 9 chairman Peter Costello.
Model Pia Whitesell was there again, accompanied by her husband, Hollywood talent manager Patrick Whitesell.
Actor and director Rachel Griffiths and boxing legend Jeff Fenech were also enjoying the game
Actors Alicia Debnam Carey, Sophie Wilde, Thomas Cocquerel and Sam Corlett also soaked up the action.
Australian tennis legend Rod Laver will be sitting beside fellow legends Neale Fraser and Judy Dalton, plus Governor of Victoria Linda Dessau.
Earlier on Sunday Kia Arena was transformed for the AO Glam Slam presented by Ralph Lauren.
Around 140 players from around Australia competed in the Glam Slam, with the event hosted by Courtney Act and entertainment provided by Client Liaison and Yo Mafia!.
Australian Survivor contestant Sophie Cachia and her partner, WNBL basketballer Maddie Carrick, South Melbourne soccer player Andy Brennan, Melbourne footballer Jayden Hunt, Hawthorn footballer Changkuoth Jiath and drag queen sensation Art Simone all competed in a celebrity match.
CELEBRITIES COURTSIDE FOR HISTORIC BARTY VICTORY
Celebrities have turned out in force to watch their heroes at the Australian Open at Melbourne Park.
Among those at the sporting event are Australian tennis greats Rod Laver and Judy Dalton.
Cathy Freeman also attended the women’s final to cheer on Ash Barty, as a guest of Tennis Australia with her husband James Murch.
Fellow Sydney Olympics gold medallist Ian Thorpe were in the crowd, along with Rohan Browning, who shot to public attention after making the semi-finals of the men’s 100m sprint at the Tokyo Olympics.
Academy Award winner Russell Crowe and his girlfriend Britney Theriot were there, with tennis fan Dannii Minogue and AO Glam Slam host Courtney Act also among the guests of Tennis Australia.
Film and TV producer Bruna Papandrea and model Pia Whitesell, accompanied by her husband, Hollywood talent manager Patrick Whitesell was there.
Other celebrities spotted in Rod Laver Arena were actors Saoirse Ronan, Teresa Palmer, Bella Heathcote, Mia Wasikowska, Katherine Langford and Eliza Scanlan, along with model Victoria Lee.
Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp was cheering on Barty, as was Karl Stefanovic and Alicia Loxley.
Newly married Pia Whitesell wasted no time getting into the tennis action after jetting into Melbourne on Friday morning.
The leggy brunette arrived at Melbourne Jet Base on the Gulfstream V owned by her Hollywood agent husband’s company. They cost a cool $62 million or so.
Heavy hitter Whitesell is the executive chairman of talent and media colossus Endeavour, which went public last year and in which he jointly owns almost $840 million in controlled shares.
He was formerly married to TV personality Lauren Sanchez, who is now dating the world’s richest man Jeff Bezos after Whitesell reportedly introduced them some years ago.
Australia’s richest lady Gina Rinehart was also tipped to have been at the tennis this week.
