Brendan Fevola has opened up further about selling his Coleman Medal to fund his dire gambling habits, revealing he sold the medal for cash around 4am during a big night on the booze.

Fevola let slip last week on FOX FM that he had sold one of his two Coleman Medals while in the grip of his horror gambling addiction a decade ago. He has since bought it back and had treatment for his gambling issues.

“I sold the 2006 one 10 years ago when I was in a hole, (a) massive gambler,” he told the Fifi, Fev and Nick show.

“I was at a mate’s house after a race meet and he is a huge Carlton supporter and he is pretty well off, pretty rich, he has got all his memorabilia up in his room. We were out the back having a big sesh (session), it was about four in the morning and he is like, ‘I would love one of your Colemans to put up there,’ and I go, ‘Do you want to buy it?’.

“I got the cash, probably lost it the next day on the punt, but then two years ago he called me up, he had hit the skids, lost his business, ran out of money and said, ‘Can you buy it back?’.”

Fevola’s 2009 medal that was listed for sale on eBay in 2012 after being stolen from the former Carlton player is still missing.

Fevola urged people struggling with addiction to get help.

“That medal still to this day is gone,” he said. “I don’t have it. It has been stolen. I’d love to have it back. It is sentimental.”

Having gone through his own hell with gambling, Fevola urged people struggling with addiction to get help.

“Gambling is a huge disease, as in it is very addictive, so if people do have trouble make sure you call someone to help,” he said.
